This rubric aims to help you to correctly plot a graph in science.

	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts	Superb 4 pts
Type of graph chosen and size	Poor Small and cramped (used less than 50% of X and/or Y axis)/ Wrong type of graph	Fair Used >50% of each axis but used the wrong type of graph.	Good Used more than 50% of each axis and was the correct graph type but was not completed very neatly.	Superb Used >50% of each axis, all information was presented clearly, and the right type of graph was selected.
Title	Poor A title is not present.	Fair A title is present at the top of the graph but does include enough information.	Good Title clearly relates to the problem being graphed but only includes one of the variables. Title is printed at the top of the graph.	Superb Title is creative and clearly relates to the problem being graphed (includes dependent and independent variable). It is printed at the top of the graph.
X axis Labels & Units	Poor The X axis is not labeled.	Fair The X axis has a label, but it has no unit and needs one.	Good The X axis has a clear label that describes the units used for the independent variable(the thing you changed).	Superb The X axis has a clear, neat label that describes the units used for the independent variable(the thing you changed).
Y axis Labels & Units	Poor The Y axis is not labeled.	Fair The Y axis has a label, but it has no unit and needs one.	Good The Y axis has a clear label that describes the units used for the independent variable(the thing you changed).	Superb The Yaxis has a clear, neat label that describes the units used for the independent variable(the thing you changed).
Data Plotting	Poor Points were not plotted correctly	Fair Some points were NOT plotted correctly.	Good All points are plotted correctly OR bars are drawn correctly. But, points were not circled OR bars were not shaded.	Superb All points are plotted correctly and are easy to see. All points are circled OR all bars are shaded for maximal viewing.
Axis Scales	Poor A scale is missing from both of the axes.	Fair A scale is present on both the X and Y axis, but at least one scale was inconsistent OR a zero was placed at the origin inaccurately.	Good Scales are present on both the X and Y axes, but the interval selected for the scale made the graph more difficult to interpret.	Superb Scales are present and accurate on both the X and Y axes. The interval selected for the scale was a good match for the data to be graphed.
