Hand/Finger Placement	Does Not Meet Hands are in the wrong order. Fingers are not placed where they are supposed to be. Poor posture and incorrect angle of instrument.	Partially Meets Hands are in the right order. Fingers are not in the correct place always. Angle of instruments incorrect. Poor posture.	Meets Hands are in the correct placement. Fingers are all correct. Reasonable approximation of correct angle of instrument and posture.	Exceeds Hands and fingers are always in the correct placement. Angle of instrument is excellent. Student played with straight back, chin up, and with instrument correctly placed at mouth.
Note Accuracy	Does Not Meet Many mistakes. The notes played were not close to the written music. Consistently incorrect fingering with regular squeaking and poor seal of holes. Rhythmic Accuracy	Does Not Meet No steady rhythm. Lots of breaks and pauses. No note was held for its full rhythmic value.	Partially Meets Rhythm is somewhat steady but there were a few mistakes. Some notes were not held for their full rhythmic value.	Meets Good steady rhythm. Each note was held for its full rhythmic value. No major mistakes.	Exceeds Confident, steady and correct rhythm played with no mistakes. There is a definite underlying pulse and each note was held for full rhythmic value.
Airstream and Control	Does Not Meet Consistent overblowing causing squeaking or out of tune notes and underblowing resulting in a wavering tone.	Partially Meets Inconsistent breath control with occasional overblowing causing squeaking or out of tune notes and underblowing resulting in a wavering tone.
