Rhythm Patterns Assessment
	Low 1 pts	Medium 2 pts	High 3 pts
Repeats a modeled pattern	Low Shows interest. Not able to repeat any motions in order, gives up easily.	Medium Shows interest, gives several attempts, is able to repeat with close prompting.	High Shows interest, is able to repeat after one model, keeps steady rhythm.
Offers to explain pattern	Low Offers no explanation, "I don't know", or shrugs.	Medium Makes somewhat of an attempt to explain. May say red, green, red, green or something similar.	High High verbal usage and describes a pattern as something that repeats over and over, gives examples.
Predicts and extends pattern	Low Cannot offer what comes next in a modeled pattern.	Medium Is able to model what is next but does not offer to extend.	High Models and extends pattern at least two times.
Constructs a repeated pattern	Low No repeat to pattern, graphics are in a random order.	Medium Creates a simple repeating pattern with one or two graphics out of repeat order.	High Constructs a complex repeating pattern without any errors.
Describes the pattern	Low Offers no words, motions, or gestures to describe the pattern.	Medium Says the graphic names to describe. Offers no words, motions or gestures.	High Says the graphic names and offers the motions and/or gestures to translate the pattern.
Models their pattern	Low Is unable or unwilling to demonstrate their pattern. Agrees to model but cannot produce a repeating pattern.	Medium Is eager to model the pattern, is able to produce a repeating pattern with one or two mistakes.	High Is eager to model the pattern, repeats and extends without mistakes in a steady beat.
