The student demonstrates a clear and focused tone through most of the performance, but has difficulty in varied dynamic passages.
Accomplished Skills

The student demonstrates a clear and focused tone throughout performance, including all dynamic areas.
Rhythm

Beginning Skills

The student shows little to no signs of rhythmic stability, accuracy, and precision throughout the performance. Musical passages are almost unrecognizable due to the rhythmic instability. The student has chosen the incorrect tempi for the musical selections.
Developing Skills

The student shows signs of rhythmic accuracy but lacks consistency throughout the performance. Motifs and musical passages are sometimes misinterpreted due to rhythmic instability.
Demonstrates Skills

Student demonstrates rhythmic accuracy, consistency, and precision through most of the performance. The student is unsure of which tempi to choose for certain passages.
Accomplished Skills

Student demonstrates rhythmic accuracy, consistency, and precision throughout the performance. Motifs and musical passages are clearly understood and appropriate tempi is chosen by the student.
Intonation

Beginning Skills

The student fails to demonstrate an accurate sense of intonation and pitch. Melodies and musical passages are indiscernible throughout the performance.
Developing Skills

The student struggles to remain in tune throughout the performance. The student shows no signs of correcting wrong pitches, and intonation fluctuates throughout the performance.
Demonstrates Skills

The student shows adequate listening skills. The student's intonation fluctuates very little throughout the performance. In general the student demonstrates a strong center of pitch.
Accomplished Skills

The student shows excellent listening skills, ability to instantly correct wrong pitches, and remains in tune throughout the entire performance.
Musicianship

Beginning Skills

The student fails to demonstrate musicianship on all levels. The student demonstrates little to no understanding of musicianship and musical sensitivity.
Developing Skills

The student shows little signs of musicianship and sensitivity to musical phrases, and dynamics. The student chooses appropriate stylistic choices relevant to the musical selections most of the time.
Demonstrates Skills

The student shows ample amount of sensitivity to musical phrases, dynamics, and demonstrates excellent stylistic choices relevant to the musical selections.
Accomplished Skills

The student shows proficient sensitivity to musical phrases, dynamics, and demonstrates exemplary stylistic choices relevant to the musical selections.
