Wildlife landscape SHADING SHAPES & FORMS SHADING SHAPES & FORMS Students will demonstrate shading skills using colored pencils in order to turn flat shapes into three dimensional forms. Students will effectively use a light source, a full range of values, and shadows in their assessment. FULL VALUE RANGE	Highly Effective Extremely effective in demonstrating ability to blend with the pencil tip to create a full range of light, medium and dark values.	Effective Effective in showing a value range that contains light, medium, and dark values. Shading may appear striped and/or un-blended.	Not Effective A partial value range was demonstrated. Blending was minimal, if present at all.	Unsuccessful Attempt Limited effort was attempted to blend and/or to show a variety of values.
LIGHT SOURCE/shadows	Highly Effective Light source is dramatic and obvious. The lightest values are closest to the light source. Edges of surface closest to light source have been lightly erased to show implied lines. Shadows are placed in correct places opposite the light source.	Effective Light source is evident. Darkest values are located opposite the light source. lShadows have been added correctly in most areas.	Not Effective An attempt has been made to create a light source. It may not be lined up with the lightest values of the object. Shadows have been added, though not in the correct spot.	Unsuccessful Attempt Limited effort was attempted to use a light source and shadows.
NEAT & COMPLETE	Highly Effective Work is extremely neat and complete. Attachment of the foreground and background is neat and makes sense in sizing.	Effective Work is fairly clean and neat. Most smudges and extra lines have been erased. Edges are somewhat clean and sharp. Shows organization in displaying distance.	Not Effective Weak effort given to erasing smudges and cleaning edges. Sharpness of edges is not consistent in work.	Unsuccessful Attempt limited effort, if any effort, is given to erasing smudges and making edges sharp. Foreground and background don't show proper sizing.
