Project layout	Beginning Student needs to have layout shown, step by step.	Developing Student has some idea of the layout process.	Achieving Student follows plans, independently.	Excelling Student follows plans and masters project layout.
Tool useage	Beginning Does not identify or use tools and equipment effectively.	Developing Student is able to find some of the tools they will be using but continues to need assistance to use them properly	Achieving Student is able to find and use all the tools they will need for their project.	Excelling Student is able to find and properly use all the tools they will need for their project.
Craftmanship (weighted * 2)	Beginning Project has many errors, student did not apply given talent. Didn't care to finish project.	Developing Project has few minor errors, student applied given talent to satisfactory standards.	Achieving Project well built. Student applied skills and talent to be successful.	Excelling Project built to perfection. Able to be sold in a store.
Pre-finish (Sometimes identified as raw score)	Beginning Surface is rough, or incomplete	Developing Surface has rough spots and/or cross grain scratches. Selected edges are not smooth. Cutting marks present.	Achieving Surface is good with no cross grain scratches. Edges are smooth.	Excelling Finish is perfect and able to be sold in a store.
Finish	Beginning Paint/stain is not applied.	Developing Paint/stain drips, inadequate coverage with only one coat.	Achieving Paint/stain is good with adequate coverage and two coats.	Excelling Paint/stain is perfect with two or more coats sanding between coats. A store bought finish.
