Techniques/Mark Making 3 Techniques Visible 3 Mark Making (Pattern)	Advanced Excellent use of painting techniques. Strong evidence of problem solving to find the best techniques and mark making (patterns) to fit the composition.	Proficient Good use of painting techniques and patterns - all 6 evident. Evidence of problem solving can be seen in most areas of the composition.	Developing A couple different techniques were used, but not much problem solving can be seen. Limited if any mark making techniques applied for texture.	Not Proficient Hard to distinguish techniques used throughout the painting and no problem solving to create marks and textures can be seen.
Color Colors are mixed. At least four colors visible.	Advanced Excellent knowledge and use of color mixing throughout entire painting. Wide variety of mixed colors and values. Originality Unique composition, layering	Advanced Utilized the black ink base. Was able to create a balanced unique composition that stands out. Wide variety of applications and layers.	Proficient Composition looks unique and has some areas that standout. Nice variety of applications.	Developing Student didn't make the ink pattern part of the piece. Limited applications and layering.	Not Proficient Student did not add applications to make the piece standout. Piece does not look complete, no unity.
