Uses limited vocabulary that is related to the verb. Reader can understand less than half of what writer is trying to communicate.
Proficient

Uses appropriate vocabulary from Spanish 1 and or previously learned vocabulary. Reader can understand all or most of what writer is trying to communicate
Advanced

Uses appropriate vocabulary from Spanish 1 and 2 or previous vocabulary adding complexity to sentences. Reader can always understand all of what writer is trying to communicate.
Syntax

Beginning

Writes less than 5 sentences that are basic or memorized
Progressing

Writes 10 sentences that contain simple sentences and memorized expressions
Proficient

Writes 20 sentences that contain phrases and simple sentences
Advanced

Writes at least 20 sentences with some complexity.
