This is the rubric I will use to grade your conversation skills for the first unit.

Prononciation, accent & intonation	Excellent -You attempt authentic pronunciation -You are clear & distinct -You have natural animation -You are positive -Your rhythm is even	Bien Fait -You speak clearly with some minor interference from English. -One point is not clear -Natural expression	Pas mal -Your pronunciation sounds more like English - Too many mistakes (2+) to fully understand.	Effort minimal -Incorrect pronunciation which interferes with comprehension. - nothing can be understood.
Fluency	Excellent -You speak naturally and confidently due to your preparation outside of class and your knowledge of vocabulary. -You know more than one way of expressing the same word/idea -you attempt to be creative with the language. -You speak in full thoughts.	Bien Fait -Minor hesitations don't interfere with your ability to be understood -You have good command of the vocabulary -You are communicating, but using minimal expressions to get your point across.	Pas mal -Frequent pauses show a lack of practice -You respond too often with single words and do not advance the conversation.	Effort minimal -You have long awkward pauses in your speech. -The listener is lost due to lack of obvious practice.
Grammar	Excellent -You consistently use the correct word choice -Subject & verbs agree -Nous & adjs agree -tenses are consistently correct -Great job with gender! -You correct yourself when needed.	Bien Fait -You attempt to use correct word choice but may make a few (3+ errors) -Mistakes do not hinder communication.	Pas mal -You make frequent errors that make it difficult to understand your point. -A native speaker would find it difficult to understand you.	Effort minimal -No one would understand you due to your lack of grammar skills.
Amount & Appropriateness	Excellent -We spoke the whole time. You drove the conversation. Two minutes flew by! -Your thoughts are well organized. -You spoke with the correct register. -You used appropriate gestures.	Bien Fait -You spoke less than me. I had to save the conversation 2+ times. -You used an incorrect register 2+ times.	Pas mal -I lead the whole conversation due to your lack of preparation. -Your register was incorrect.	Effort minimal Anybody home?
