Accuracy -Beat -Notes -Rhythms -Fingering	Advanced Consistently correct pulse, notes, rhythms, and fingerings.	Proficient Infrequent errors in notes, rhythms, fingerings, pulse. A few minor technical problems.	Basic A lack of consistently correct notes, rhythms, pulse, and fingerings. Student may rush or slow technically difficult passages.	Minimal Many inaccurate notes, rhythms, fingerings, and pulse. Technical passages are weak. May be abrupt stops.
Hands -Left and Right together	Advanced Use of both hands throughout the performance of the piece.	Proficient Use of both hands for more than half of the performance, or proficient use of each hand for entire piece.	Basic Some evidence of attempts to work with both hands.	Minimal No evidence of any attempt to learn both hands.
Position -Posture -Finger -Wrist -Hand -Arm	Advanced Consistently uses correct finger, wrist, hand, posture, and arm positions.	Proficient A few minor problems with fingering, wrist, hand, posture, and arm positioning.	Basic Often uses incorrect posture, finger, wrist, hand, arm positions. Effort and Practice - How has the student used practice and class time during the past six weeks?	Advanced Student has effectively used all class time showing excellent and consistent effort in class.	Proficient Student has practiced effectively most of the time. Student generally shows good effort in class.	Basic Student has wasted more than half of the class time by talking, roaming around the room, or fooling. Student has put in little effort in class.	Minimal Student has shown little or no effort to practice music in class.
