Elements, Mixtures and Compounds

Students will host an 'Elements, mixtures and compounds' lunch for their mothers. Their decorations, menus, invitations and food/drink must all reflect what they have learned about elements, mixtures and compounds.

Satisfactory The invitation includes important information. The design is not very creative and there is little evidence of chemistry.	Excellent The invitation includes all required information. Design elements include creaive use of chemistry and the guest is given a good idea of the theme of the lunch.
Table Creativity, decorations, use of scientific terms, organisation.	Not achieved The table is sparsely decorated. There is very little evidence of elements, compounds or mixtures used during decorating.	Satisfactory The table is decorated and contains appropriate information.	Excellent The table is creatively decorated and includes elements, compounds and mixtures. The student has used the decorations to provide information for their guests.
The Meal Food and drinks that are served	Not achieved Their is little or no link between what is served and the topic.	Satisfactory There is evidence that the student can categorize the meal into elements, mixtures and compounds, but there is no information provided to the guests so that they might participate.	Excellent The meal served has been clearly categorized into elements, mixtures and compounds.
