Exemplary

The writing is focused on the topic and has supportive details and real-life examples. The student has written a fully developed paragraph that uses a variety of descriptive words. The drawing is detailed, creative, and colorful.
Understanding
Beginning

Students are not familiar with the art terms and are unable to define them.
Developing

Students are not fully familiar with the art terms but have an idea of what they mean.
Accomplished

Students are familiar with art terms and can define it.
Exemplary

Students have a complete understanding of the art terms and are able to define them and give examples.
Oral and Language
Beginning

The student is off topic and does not talk about the artwork during the turn and talk.
Developing

The student is mostly off topic but occasionally talks about the artwork during the turn and talk.
Accomplished

The student is on topic during the turn and talk and uses a few art terms and descriptive words to analyze the artwork.
Exemplary

The student stays focused and on task during the turn and talk and is able to correctly use the art terms and descriptive words to analyze the artwork.
