Good The artwork shows that the student applied the principles discussed in class adequately.	Excellent The artwork shows that the student applied the principles discussed in class in a unique manner.
Creativity	Poor The piece shows little or no evidence of original thought.	Fair The student's work lacked sincere originality	Good The student work demonstrates originality.	Excellent The students work demonstrates a unique level of originality.
Effort	Poor The student did not finish their work in a satisfactory manner.	Fair The student finished the project, but it lacks finishing touches or can be improved upon with little effort.	Good The student completed the project in an above average, yet more could have been done.	Excellent The student gave an effort far beyond the requirements of the project.
Painting Skill	Poor Student needs to work on controlling paint and preplanning paint application. Muddy colors, ragged edges, lack of texture, drips and/or blobs are evident throughout the painting.	Fair Control is somewhat lacking. A few drips, ragged edges and failure of certain areas of pattern/texture may be evident.	Good Paint is applied in a careful, logical manner. Colors remainsharp and texture is evident.	Excellent Application of paint is preplanned and done in a logical, sequential manner.
Capturing a style/artists	Poor No attempt has been made to apply paint in a manner that is consistent with the technique or artist being studied.	Fair An attempt has ben made to apply paint in a manner that is consistent with the technique or artist being studied, but it is not effective.	Good Paint is applied in a manner that is reasonably consistent with the technique or artist being studied.	Excellent Paint is applied in a manner very consistent with the technique or artist being studied.
