Concept/Idea	Emerging Art piece is not unique and is a blatant copy of an existing work of art. The student is not successful in evoking emotional response from the viewer.	Good Art piece is somewhat unique with vague evidence of borrowing ideas from another work. Student is not completely successful in evoking emotional response from the viewer.	Advanced Art piece is unique and original in concept with no evidence of copying from another work. Student is successful in creating an interesting and evocative work of art.
Composition	Emerging Student was not successful in arranging the principles and elements of art in their work for a composition that is pleasing and shows no amount of risk-taking.	Good Student was somewhat successful in arranging the principles and elements of art in their work for a composition that is pleasing and shows a small amount of risk-taking.	Advanced Student was extremely successful in arranging the principles and elements of art in their work for a composition that is advanced and shows evidence of risk-taking.
Use of Medium	Emerging The students choice of medium was not appropriate to accompany the student's concept for the piece. The techniques used with the chosen medium were lacking and insufficient.
