Student uses no facts, or mostly incorrect facts. The student does not understand the event. Not enough research completed to demonstrate an understanding.
Consequences

Exceeds Expectations

Student provides in-depth analysis of the causes to the event and its consequences. Correlates with the facts provided. Insight shows deep understanding of the topic and the reasons for it.
Meets Expectations

Student has strong analysis--names facts and explains importance of events and the consequences. Insight shows clear understanding of the topic and the reasons for it.
Meets Some Expectations

Student has little analysis and does not correlate it with the facts. Insight is weak and lacks accuracy.
Fails to Meet Expectations

Students has no analysis. Student demonstrates little understanding, or none at all.
Symbolic

Exceeds Expectations

Student demonstrates impressive insights into the larger significance of the topic by identifying a significant amount of monuments, statues, holidays, etc. The student also incorporates a solid understanding of the event and how it has affected others.
Meets Expectations

Student demonstrates the larger significance of the topic. Places the topic within the larger framework of the time period.
Meets Some Expectations

Student poorly demonstrates the larger significance of the topic. Poorly places the topic within the larger framework of the time period.
Fails to Meet Expectations

Student fails to demonstrate the larger significance of the topic. Fails to place the topic within the larger framework of the time period. No symbolism is present.
