Students use the cornell note format as a way to organize important details from non-fiction text.

	Complete 4 pts	Incomplete 0 pts
Format	Complete Student has created the complete Cornell Note format including: - Labels for GQ, Name, and Date - T-Chart labeled with Vocab and Notes - Section at the bottom labeled Summary	Incomplete Student is missing 2 or more parts of the Cornell Note format.
Guiding Question	Complete Student has written down the guiding question for the day.	Incomplete Student has not written the guiding question down for the day.
Notes/Vocabulary	Complete Student has important details from the assigned reading, they either have numbers or bullets next to each detail. If there are vocabulary words, then student has placed the vocabulary words from the reading in the left section of the T-chart. Followed by the definition in the right side of the T-chart.	Incomplete Student does not have important details written down from the assigned reading and has not written the vocabulary words with their definitions from the reading.
Summary	Complete Student has written a 3-sentence summary that includes the 5 W's.	Incomplete Student has not written a 3 sentence summary that includes the 5 W's.
