Level 1: Sight Singing Assessment FFMHS Level 2: Sight Singing Assessment FFMHS 4th-12th graders will sing and record a sight reading exercise during class. Each student must pass off to the next level by the end of the current quarter. In order to do this, the student must earn a score of 2.93 (85). This will be counted as a summative assessment. Steady Beat	1 Student is NOT ABLE to sing the selected exercise with a steady beat at this time. There are 5 or more hesitations or pauses in the beat.	2 Student SOMETIMES sings with a steady beat. There are no more than 3-4 hesitations or pauses in the beat.	3 Student MOSTLY sings with a steady beat. There are no more than 1-2 hesitations or pauses in the beat.	4 Student ALWAYS sings with a steady beat. It is smooth and free of hesitations or pauses in the beat.
Rhythm	1 Student is NOT ABLE to accurately sing the rhythms in the selected exercise at this time. There are 5 or more rhythmic mistakes.	2 Student SOMETIMES sings the rhythms accurately. There are no more than 3-4 rhythmic mistakes.	3 Student MOSTLY sings the rhythms accurately. There are no more than 1-2 rhythmic mistakes .	4 Student ALWAYS sings the rhythms accurately. There are no rhythmic mistakes.
Syllable recognition	1 Student is NOT ABLE to accurately sing the syllables (1,5) in the selected exercise at this time. There are 5 or more syllabic mistakes.	2 Student SOMETIMES sings the correct syllables (1,5). There were 3-4 mistakes in syllable recognition.	3 Student MOSTLY sings the correct do, mi and sol syllables. There were 1-2 mistakes in syllable recognition.	4 Student ALWAYS sings the correct do, mi and sol syllables. There are NO mistakes in syllable recognition.
Pitch recognition	1 Student is NOT ABLE to accurately sing the pitchess in the selected exercise at this time. There are 5 or more pitch mistakes.	2 Student MOSTLY sings the correct pitches . There are no more than 3-4 pitch mistakes.	3 Student MOSTLY sings the correct pitches . There are no more than 1-2 pitch mistakes.	4 Student ALWAYS sings the correct pitches and the pitches are ALWAYS in tune.
