Theme and Variation
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts
Performance	Poor Students were unprepared, silly, and unrehearsed.	Fair Students were somewhat rehearsed. Partners were not together with same tempo of played 2-5 notes incorrectly.	Good Students were well-rehearsed. Little to no mistakes were made when playing the Variation.
Variation	Poor Variation did not sound like the theme. Variation sounded like separate or new song and the theme could not be detected.	Fair Variation sounded somewhat like the theme, but was harder to detect or pick out.	Good Variation sounded similar to the original theme with some changes to make it sound different. Theme was easy to recognize.
Written Rhythms	Poor Rhythms do not fit into 2/3 or 4/4 time signature...many mistakes were present or assignment was not finished.	Fair Rhythms mostly fit into the 2/3 or 4/4 time signature chosen by students. Two-five mistakes were made. Incorrect number of measures noted.	Good Rhythms fit into the 3/4 or 4/4 time signature chosen by students. Zero-two mistakes were made. Correct number of measures were noted.
Placement of notes on the staff	Poor Many notes were not placed correctly on the staff or the assignment was not finished.	Fair Students placed most of their notes on the correct lines and spaces on the staff. Two-five mistakes were made.	Good Students placed their note heads on the correct lines and spaces on the staff per their rough draft.
