The Physics of Angry Birds Assessment
Students are to create a poster which shows the flights of several angry birds. They must show that they can calculate speed, distance, time, acceleration and momentum, as well as create a time-distance graph and use this to calculate speed. The format for this assessment is an A3 poster. Students will have a total of 100 minutes of class time to work on this task, then the rest must be done at home. It is due Monday the 19th of September

Evidence of calculations

Not attempted/included

Has not included any calculations on poster.
Poor

Has included some but not all calculations. Not all calculations are correct.
Fair

Has included calculations for speed, acceleration, momentum and velocity of an angry bird. Not all calculations are correct.
Good

Has demonstrated the ability to correctly calculate speed, acceleration, momentum and velocity of an angry bird
Distance - Time Graphs

Not attempted/included

No distance - time graph included .
Poor

Distance - Time graph attempted but not correctly plotted or labelled.
Fair

Distance - Time graph included in correct format but not used or used incorrectly to show how to calculate speed.
Good

Distance - Time graph included in correct format and used to correctly calculate speed.
Description of momentum

Not attempted/included

No description of how momentum changes between different angry birds
Poor

Brief description of what momentum is, no comparison between the sizes of the angry birds with no calculations included.
Fair

Description of how momentum changes as a result of weight. No formula or example calculation included.
Good

Description of how momentum changes with formula and example calculation to show how size impacts momentum.
Flight of angry birds

Not attempted/included

No images of angry bird flight paths.
Poor

One angry bird flight paths included, no reference to calculations
Fair

Several angry bird flight paths included. Uses unreasonable estimations for calculations.
Good

Several angry bird flight paths included. Images make reference to calculations including reasonable estimations for calculations.
Speed - Time Graph

Not attempted/included

No speed - time graph included.
Poor

Speed - time graph included. Makes no reference to angry bird flight path. No calculations included.
Fair

Speed - time graph included which shows angry bird flight path and calculations of acceleration. Parts of graph or calculations are incorrect.
Good

Speed - time graph included which correctly show angry bird flight path. Correctly calculated acceleration from this.
Presentation
