Composition

how the object are composed in the space provided.

Good

Composition is well planned and the object fit the space provided. There is a thoughtful use of positive and negative space throughout the piece.
Fair

The composition shows some thought however there is a disproportionate amount of leftover space in the material provided.
Poor

There is little or no thought in the layout of the design. All objects are heavily weighted in one corner and do not stretch out into the space provided.
Use of Observation / Countour Line

The artist slowly observed the objects and used a continuous line to capture what their eye observed.

Good

Their is a continuous, loose, line which clearly reflects the students' observation of the subject. The line is not sketched or mapped out.
Fair

There is a good amount of detail and observation however, the student appears to have sketched and mapped out their work instead of letting the eye lead a continuous line.
Poor

There is little observational detail in the wok. The objects are simple and lack contour line quality.
Color and Line quality

The addition of color to one piece of the drawing to add emphasis. The line contains thick and thin areas for interest.

Good

Color was added in a well thought manner. It added to the work and did not take away form the drawing. The lines were varied and neatly traced from the pencil sketch.
Fair

The color was added in a thoughtful manner, but it was messy. The line was similar in weight throughout the work.
Poor

The color that was added was sloppy and took away from the visual content of the piece.
