Jim Dine- Tangled Hearts

Students take inspiration from Jim Dine's artwork, "Four Hearts" to create an original work of art using color and pattern.

Elements/Principles of Art: Line Spirals, organic, curved, straight, long, short, thick, thin etc.	Excellent Utilized a large (7+) variety of lines to create unique patterns in composition.	Good Utilized an adequate (5-6) variety of lines to create unique patterns in composition.	Fair Utilized a minimal (3-4) variety of lines to create unique patterns in composition of zentangle.	Poor Used no intentional line in artwork other than ouline of objects.
Elements/Principle of Art: Color Blending/Mixing complementary and analogous colors.	Excellent Demonstrates ability to blend both complementary and analogous colors in a composition.	Good Demonstrates some ability to blend both complementary and analogous colors in the composition.	Fair Demonstrates minimal ability to blend both complementary and analogous colors in the composition. Composition	Excellent Composition demonstrates an exceptional understanding of how to create emphasis using positive and negative space. Entire square sheet is used to its full potential. Most of the square sheet is used to its full potential (3/4).	Fair Composition demonstrates some understanding of how to create emphasis using positive and negative space. Craftsmanship	Excellent Student spent a considerable amount of time painting and creating patterns. Paint is within the lines and patterns are clearly visible through use of clean lines.	Good Student spent an adequate amount of time painting and creating patterns. Paint is within the lines and patterns are clearly visible through use of clean lines.	Fair Student spent a minimal amount of time painting and creating patterns. Some paint is outside the lines and patterns are hard to see.	Poor Student did not finish artwork or rushed and finished extremely early. A lot of empty space on square sheet. Painting is sloppy and patterns are hard to see.
