Group Theme Project 
Students, in groups or individually, are to select major themes, write a thematic statement chosen themes. Themes are to be supported with quotes. In addition, each thematic statement must have a visual representation.

Themes and thematic statements are not only accurate but go above and beyond basic understanding.

Themes and thematic statement are accurate and show a basic understanding of literature.

Themes and thematic statement are only somewhat relevant. Not all chosen themes and thematic statements show a basic understanding of the literature and project.
1: Needs Improvement

Most themes and thematic statements have little relevancy or connection to the text. Therefore, the overall result shows little understanding of the literature and project.
Group Work

4: Exemplary

Excellent job: group worked together very well and was always on task. No absences and project was ready on time.
3: Proficient

Good job! group worked very well together most days with few absences. Majority of the time, the group was on task. No conflicts within group. Project was ready on time.
2: Emerging

Fair job: evidence of the group off task, and some of the time in class was used to socialize. Some group members were absent. Therefore, slowing down the pace of work accomplished. Project was not ready on time.
1: Needs Improvement

Poor: group members were off task and socializing. Absences from group members slowed down the pace of work. Project was not ready on time for more than one day.
Word choice, Spelling, and Grammar.

4: Exemplary

Word choice is exemplary. No evidence of spelling or grammar errors.
3: Proficient

Word choice is basic and appropriate for task. Few to no errors in spelling and grammar.
2: Emerging

Word choice needs improvement and not always appropriate for task. Some errors in spelling and grammar.
1: Needs Improvement

Word choice is not appropriate for task. Many errors in spelling and grammar.
