Weld width and height: 100 % Uniform width and thickness throughout the entire length of each weld.	Advanced Bead is uniform width all along the length of each welld. Has a smooth appearance	Proficient Bead maintains width and length. Shows some small blemishes along the weld	Emerging Not a uniform thickness through out the weld. Thickness goes to extremes	Beginning Weld is cut off in places, not uniform along the weld. Shows bare spots
Appearance 100 % Smooth with uniform dense ripples, doesn’t show the bead traveling to fast or slow	Advanced Weld shows a constant speed and uniformity the entire length	Proficient Weld shows a constant speed with some blemishes that are minimal	Emerging Weld shows definite areas of speeding up and slowing down. Ripples tend to be coarse	Beginning Weld has been done to fast or to slow. Weld is not complete
Penetration 100 % Complete without burn through	Advanced Weld penetrates deep into the metal and adds strength and fusion to the edges and depth.	Proficient Weld pentetrates deep but does not re surface through the bottom of a jointed welds	Emerging Weld is uneven in depth, lacks uniformity along weld length.
