Plaster Masks/Arm

Goals: Students will create a plaster mask or arm. They will demonstrate there knowledge of the elements and principles of design. They will demonstrate skillful craftsmanship and there ability to work cooperatively.

Good Mask/arm exhibits good ability to apply the elements and principles of design: texture, color, line,pattern,emphasis or unity.	Excellent Mask/arm exhibits superior understanding and application of texture, color,line,pattern, emphasis or unity.
Creativity	Poor The mask/arm is a copy of a mask seen in source material or one made by another student (80%) or more is copied.	Fair Some aspects of the mask/arm are unique, but several elements are copied from source materials or other students.	Good Most of the mask/arm elements are unique, but 1 element may be copied from source material.	Excellent Totally original design, no element is an exact copy of designs seen in source material.
Craftsmanship and Attractiveness	Poor The mask/arm looks thrown together at the last minute. It appears that little design or planning was done. Didn't follow directions when applying plaster casing it to be lumpy or falling apart.	Fair The design was appears to be planned out. However the item has several visible flaws such as messy painting or poor construction.	Good The mask/arm design was well thought and planned out. There are a few visible flaws.	Excellent Great care and time were given in the design of the mask. The mask is appealing and shows no flaws.
Attitude and use of classtime	Poor Consistently needs help from teacher . Does not take risks, does not make good use of class time. Demonstrates a poor attitude.	Fair Listens to directions but gives up easily and waits for instructor for help. Doesn't consistently make good use of class time.	Good Easily understands directions and key concepts, usually works independently. Has a positive attitude and makes good use of class time.	Excellent Easily understands directions and key concepts. Helps others when needed and works independently.
