Breaking Up the Subject
We looked at Cubism and other artist's styles of "breaking up" and abstracting subject matter or creating non-objective designs. You chose the style, and picked from several mediums and techniques, to create a work that includes fragmentation - breaking-up your choice of subject matter, or creating a design of your own.

Meets Expectations

Student has achieved some success at one of the 3-4 techniques suggested for breaking up and fragmenting a composition.
Approaching Expectations

One of the suggested techniques was used - or a unique technique was used -but there's really not much fragmentation or breaking-up of the composition.
Not Yet Meeting Expectations

There's no real evidence of an attempt to fragment or break-up a composition using one of the suggested techniques.
Composition & Design

Exceeds Expectations

The composition is successfully well-thought out; it's very dynamic and interesting, and takes up most of the space of the picture plane.
Meets Expectations

The composition/design takes up most of the space and is full, but it could be just a little more interesting.
Approaching Expectations

There's some attempt at design and composition, but not enough. There may be big unfinished, unfragmented or uninteresting areas.
Not Yet Meeting Expectations

Not much thought is evident in the composition at all. It's not balanced, filled or finished with interesting designs.
Craftsmanship & Effort

Exceeds Expectations

Excellent effort and care resulted in a highly successful accomplishment of the chosen technique and medium, i.e. smooth painting or coloring with Prismacolor stix & pencils, careful glue application, neatly drawn lines, cut & glued pieces, etc.
Meets Expectations

The techniques and mediums were pretty successfully accomplished. There might be room for just a little improvement - smoother, brighter colors, neater shapes, etc.
Approaching Expectations

The techniques and mediums used are fairly messily applied - there may be streaks, dull coloring, blobs, or unfinished looking areas.
Not Yet Meeting Expectations

Not much effort in the application of mediums resulting i a pretty messy or unfinished project.
