Realism

T: _______

S: ______

P: ______

Limited

Viewer can barely tell what the drawing visually represents: images are not life like. Visual space is not depicted. Everything is flat. Drawing and value accuracy is VERY off.
Emerging

Viewer can tell what the drawing visually represents, but the drawing of it is very generic: the images are starting to emerge. An attempt was made at creating depth, but needs further development. Drawing and value accuracy is developing, but is not super accurate but instead is generic.
Skilled

Viewer has no trouble seeing and understanding what the drawing visually represents: objects are represented in a life like manner. You can see that the objects were relatively closely and carefully observed, vs. glanced at and made up. Spacial depth has been achieved by mainly correct use of drawing and value. Textures of different surfaces is achieved although at differing levels of success.
Accomplished

Not only is the drawing clear and subject matter easily discerinible - the artist has also kept a consistency in the use of technique that a style is approached or achieved. You can see that the objects were CLOSELY and carefully observed, vs. glanced at and made up. Spacial depth is very clearly evident-it looks like you could reach right into the work and grab and object! Textures are clearly evident and believable.
Composition

T: _______

S: ______

P: ______

Limited

Composition was not unconsidered: The concept of arranging the formal elements in the image with an aim in mind not demonstrated. Balance is off. Size and space of paper was not considered. Did not go off of original selected thumbnail.
Emerging

Basic compositional elements present. Visual elements minimally grouped or placed within the artwork with an aim in mind for the work as a whole compositionally. Somewhat references the original selected thumbnail.
Skilled

Good command of the entire page and clear reasoning behind composition strategy: balance is mostly achieved. Work references the original selected thumbnail. Explanation of the compositional selection demonstrates knowledge of how to use the elements and principles of art effectively.
Accomplished

Outstanding and creative use of the page and visual elements all supporting a composition strategy. Work was slightly changed for the better from the original selected thumbnail. Explanation of the compositional selection demonstrates a deep understanding of how to use the elements and principles of art effectively.
Craftsmanship

T: _______

S: ______

P: ______

Limited

Drawing is in poor condition. Paper is soiled, wrinkled, torn, etc... Demonstrates a lack of care for your work.
Emerging

Drawing in passable condition but will have some condition flaws. Demonstrates little care for the quality of your work.
Skilled

Drawing is in good condition with only very minor condition issues. Demonstrates care for the quality of your work.
Accomplished

Drawing is in perfect condition which means the edges are perfect and straight, no wrinkles, soiling, or other flaws. Demonstrates exceptional care for the quality of your work.
Use of value

T: _______

S: ______

P: ______

Limited

Students use of value created an overall gray effect which hampered the depth of the drawing. Seems flat-lacks depth. Outlines are strongly evident.
Emerging

Student use of value has limited lights and darks leaving the drawing gray/flat. Creation of depth and accuracy of value is developing, but more work in needed. Outlines may still be evident in some areas. Range of value included needs work.
Skilled

Student has created a drawing that expresses a full range of lights and darks accurately. Outlines only occur VERY rarely. Edges are defined by changes of value verses line. Depth is well suggested and images seem to have form. Includes a full and accurate range of value, contrast of value is fairly accurate. Variety of textures was created by fairly accurate use of value as well.
Accomplished

The students use of levels of value to create details and depth. Looks like you could reach right into the work and grab an object. Range and placement of values is exception. Absolutely no outlining exists in the work. Textures are created utilizing value extremely accurately. Work includes a full range of value with accurate contrast.
critical thinking and growth

T: _______

S: ______

P: ______

Limited

Student did not pull upon previous knowledge and/or relied heavily on others for ideas and/or solutions. Did not follow requirements-ex. zooming in on a section of the still life verses recreating the entire view. Sighting was not used or used incorrectly resulting in inaccurate drawing. Use of value demonstrated lack of growth.
Emerging

Student relied on previous knowledge to create an acceptable piece but is still developing. Requirements were attempted but limited in their success. Sighting was attempted with limited success-more development needed. Value show minimal growth.
Skilled

Student was successful in trying new techniques by combining previous knowledge and problem solving; drawing has areas of innovation. Requirements were well met. Sighting was utilized mostly accurately. Value shows growth.
Accomplished

Student experimented with new techniques while successfully combining them with previous knowledge to create an innovative approach to problem solving. Requirements were exceptionally met with intention. Sighting and value show excellent growth.
Use of classtime/effort

T: _______

S: ______

P: ______

Limited

Poor use of class time. More time spent NOT working on the project than in close study and recreation of the still life. Minimal/low effort demonstrated. Little to no reflection on work made, and feedback and suggestions were not followed through on or were poorly followed through on.
Emerging

Ok use of class time. Far too many and too long of breaks taken. More time spent NOT closely observing and recreating the still life. Some effort demonstrated. Some reflection on work made, and feedback and suggestions were somewhat followed through on or were minimally followed through on.
Skilled

Good use of class time. Although sometimes a bit too long, breaks were mainly approporiately taken. Good time spent closely observing and recreating the still life. Effort demonstrated. Good reflection on work made, and feedback and suggestions were followed through.
Accomplished

AMAZING use of class time. Breaks were very rarely taken, and when they were, they were appropriate in length. All time spent closely observing and recreating the still life. Amazing effort demonstrated. Good and thoughtful reflection on work made, and feedback and suggestions were followed through on ultimately strengthening the work
