WHO IS THE ARTIST?

Level 1

*The student attempted to create project based on SKETCHES but gave up as soon as it challenged them.
The student chose something easier.

*The student seldom asked for help.
Level 2

*The student asked for help when finding something difficult, but kept trying.
SKETCHES were referred to, student attempted a difficult project. Was somewhat successful
Level 3

*The student asked for help and responded well to suggestions.
*Some clay joinery needed more attention, glaze spotty, or colors didn't work well.

*The student asked questions and showed their understanding in the work.

*All clay addititves are done well, using scoring and slip.

Level 1

*Style was considered for the drawings, but was not followed through in the work.

*Proportions are pretty accurate, but could be better. Honest attempt was made to create piece that appears unified in style and design.

*The proportions are outstanding- a true resemblance to the artist and their work. The student adhered to sketches to create piece.
Completion

Deadlines met, both greenware and glazing.

*The student did not finish the work in a satisfactory manner. Did not use time wisely, was not on task, disrupted others. Was on task less than 50 percent of the time.
Level 2

*The student finished the project but it lacked finished touches. The project could be improved upon with little effort. Not the best effort. Was on task more than 50 percent but not quite 80 percent of the time.
Level 3

*The student completed the project in an above average manner, yet more could have been done to add details and finishes. Student was on task 80 percent or more of the time. Great effort.
Level 4

*The student gave an effort far beyond the requirements of the project.
The student chose a challenging subject and stayed with it. Was focused the entire class each day, and did not give up when things got hard.
Creativity/

~Student thought "outside the box"

Level 1

*Very little creativity shown. Chose the easiest item or one that did not challenge the student.
Level 2

*Some creativity shown.
craftsmanship could be better.
Level 3

*Creativity shown, but more was possible.
Level 4

*Presentation of shoe or object was very creative.
The finish is applied well, and buffed out till a dull lustre is apparent.
Challenging object was chosen.
Meeting criteria

Student chose a challenging subject based on research in sketch book.

Level 1

Give yourself 1 point if your project too less than 2 days to build/glaze.
Level 2

Give yourself 2 points of you tried a object that had more than 1 slab and took more than 2 days to build/finish.
Level 3

Give yourself 3 points if you attempted a difficult object and modified it slightly. Attempted new additives and attempted to try a new technique.
Level 4

Give yourself 4 points for choosing many details, and multiple dimensions that were joined together, with texture, finishes, and other additives considered.
