Book Report Rubric and Literature Response Activity 
Book Report Rubric
The student will write a book report (at least one page) on a book of their choice. They will need to include the genre, title, author, illustrator, setting, the main characters, the conflict and resolution, a summary of the plot, and a personal connection to the book or opinion of the book. Students will also complete an additional Literature Response activity of their choice from a list of choices.

Organization of Report

The report is written in a logical sequence and gives an easy to understand summary of the book's plot and main events.
Needs Improvement

The report jumps around a lot and is hard to follow. The summary is hard to understand and doesn't clearly explain the plot or main events of the book.

The report follows somewhat of a logical path. It jumps around a little bit, though. The plot and main events of the story are summarized.
Outstanding

The report follows a very logical path. It flows well together and is extremely well-written. The main events of the story are clearly explained and give a clear understaning of the plot of the book.

The report and literature response activity are neatly written and have a few minor errors in grammar, punctuation, or spelling.

Literature Response Activity

The activity that is chosen should show your overall understanding of the story elements or a personal connection to the book.
Needs Improvement

The activity doesn't show an understanding of the story elements in the book or your personal connection to the book.

The activity shows an understanding of the story elements in the book or a personal connection to the book but oould have used more effort.
Outstanding

The activity shows an excellent understanding of the story elements in the book or your personal connection to the book.
