Middle School Music Theory
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts	Great 4 pts
Notes	Poor The student has no knowledge of note value or name.	Fair The student can identify three note values on a staff and demonstrate the ability to write those notes.	Good The student has a great knowledge of all note values with minimal mistakes not to exceed five per performance.	Great The student has a great knowledge of all note values with minimal mistakes not to exceed three per performance.
Note Names	Poor The student has no knowledge of note letters or can identify the letters of a staff.	Fair The student can identify three note letters on a staff from their instrument and demonstrate the ability to write those notes.	Good The student has a great knowledge of all note letters with minimal mistakes not to exceed five per performance.	Great The student has a great knowledge of all note letters with minimal mistakes not to exceed three per performance.
Rhythm	Poor The student has no knowledge of rhythm or time.	Fair The student is able to count, tap, clap a rhythm of whole, half and quarter note value.	Good The student has a great knowledge of count, tap, clap with minimal mistakes not to exceed five per performance.	Great The student has a great knowledge of count, tap, clap with minimal mistakes not to exceed three per performance.
