Provide mouth care to a resident who has dentures

You are asked to empty the residents urinary drainage bag ( foley ) into a graduate container and measure the amount of urine. An I/O form is provided to record the measurement Record the correct amount of urine and time.

Skill PUT ON GLOVES Get graduate from the bottom of the bedside table and place on barrier Place side rails up and raise bed to working lever Remove drain from pocket and clean with alcohol swab Lift drainage bad from bed frame, unclamps the drain and empty drainage bag ENTIRELY Clamp drainage tube, place back on bed frame Clean drainage tube with 2nd alcohol swab Tuck drainage tube back into the pocket	Excellent All completed without assist of instructor. Skill Give call bell, advise you'll be back and if they need anything ring Call bell ( side rails down) Take covered graduate to bathroom Use a paper towel as a barrier on shelf in bathroom Place graduate on paper towel at EYE LEVEL read the amount of urine in graduate REMEMBER IT Empty graduate in TOILET Rinse graduate and pour that water in the TOILET REPEAT STEP OF RINSING Dry and disinfect	Excellent All completed without assist of instructor.
