Take a step for each sound	Poor Student does not make any steps or make any sounds.	Fair Student is able to make 1 sound (could be the beginning, middle, or ending sound). Student is attempting to match steps with sounds.	Good Student is able to match sounds and steps most of the time.	Excellent Student is able to match sounds and steps consistently.
Write each spelling word	Poor Student is not able to write any sounds the match the dictated words.	Fair Student is able to write just 1 sound (could be the beginning, middle, or ending sound).	Good Student is able to write most sounds for the words. The student can write some words correctly.	Excellent Student writes each word correctly on paper.
