Music performance rubric
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts	Excellent 4 pts
Holding Position	Poor Left arm is always close to the body (Dinosaur arms) and shoulder rest is not on shoulder	Fair Left arm does not stay in position and shoulder rest is out of position	Good Left arm goes down slightly but quickly goes back to correct position and shoulder rest is close to correct position.	Excellent Student keeps proper position while playing and shoulder rest is on shoulder.
Posture	Poor Student demonstrates that they have little to no understanding of proper posture.	Fair Student has to be reminded often about proper posture and is unsure of it's benefits and importance.	Good Student almost always holds the position and only needs a little reminding	Excellent Student demonstrates proper posture while performing
Musicianship	Poor No dynamics. No use of articulation. Most phrases are performed incorrectly.	Fair Some dynamics are observed. Some articulation is performed. Some phrases are complete and musically accurate.	Good Most of the dynamics are followed, and most of the articulation signs are observed. Most phrases are performed correctly.	Excellent Student performs with appropriate dynamics, phrasings and articulation and is obvious to the listener.
Rhythmic Accuracy	Poor Most of the rhythms in musical score are performed incorrectly and student has little understanding of them.	Fair Some basic rhythms are performed correctly; however, has challenges with many rhythms in specific measures.	Good Most of the rhythms are performed correctly, with few errors.	Excellent Confidently performs all rhythms correctly.
Style/Interpretation	Poor The style and interpretation of the piece are not executed by the performer.	Fair Few parts of the piece are performed using both style and interpretation.	Good Most of the piece is performed using correct style and interpretation.	Excellent The performance of the piece is beautifully executed with both appropriate style and interpretation.
