Poor
Is not successful in speaking fluently. Hesitates too much, thinks too much before responding or talking. Skips or omits lines or doesn't answer question. Has to read notes or script.
Fair
Fairly successful in speaking. Shows some hesitation. Attempts to ask question, but needs to repeat it. Sounds too much like a memorized script. Student reads air. Student uses English words as fillers or during a pause. Rushes through dialogue.
Good
Can answer in complete basic sentences. Needs to repeat phrases or questions for clarification. Good flow in the way the conversation is held. Shows some creativity and spontaneity. Student hesitates but in French.
Excellent
Good command of vocabulary. Can answer and ask questions within basic dialogue structure. Can carry a conversation showing creativity, authenticity and spontaneity. Conversation looks very natural. No hesitation. Hand gestures and body language are used.
Vocabulaire
Poor
No use of sufficient voc. Voc is below level and irrevelant to the topic. Only basic transition/cohesive words are used are NONE are used.
Fair

Voc. is basic and repetitive. Transition/cohesive words are repeated or are too basic.

Uses a variety of relevant voc. appropriate to the level and topic. Most sentences have transition/cohesive words. Sticks to the prompt requirement.

Goes beyond using a wide variety of voc. new and familiar. All spoken sentences have a wide variety of transition/cohesive words. No repeat! Adheres to but then goes beyond the prompt requirement.
