Introduction 10 %	Excellent The speaker grabbed the audience's attention, established credibility and relevance of topic to the audience.	Good The speaker introduced the speech adequately, but missed one of the three introduction requirements.	Fair The speaker stated the topic of the speech but is missing 2 of the required elements.	Needs Improvement The speaker did not have an effective introduction and missed all the required elements.
Speech Body 30 % Stated materials, explain each step, demonstrate a finished product	Excellent The body of the speech is interesting and engaging. The speaker stated the materials and clearly explained and demonstrated each step of the process using transitions to move smoothly from one point to the next. A completed product shown.	Good The speaker stated the materials used and then explained and demonstrated most of the steps, but it may be choppy or in need of more explanation. A completed product shown.	Fair The speaker did not state the materials used and demonstrated part of the steps, but summarized too much or was not clear enough in the instructions given. A completed product may or may not be shown.	Needs Improvement The speaker attempted a demonstration, but did not clearly explain the step by step process. A completed product was not shown.
Conclusion 10 %	Excellent The speaker summarized the main points and drew the speech to a close with an effective memorable statement.	Good The speaker concluded the speech by adequately summarizing the main points and ended the speech with a closing statement.	Fair The speaker concluded the speech in a weak or uninteresting manner. A summary of main points was not included.	Needs Improvement The speaker ended the speech abruptly without an effective conclusion.
Voice 10 %	Excellent The speaker's voice was conversational, pleasant and powerful which helped engage the audience. Articulation & pronunciation were clear and there was no verbal clutter. The speaker varied rate, pitch & volume to enhance the speech. Appropriate pausing was employed.	Good The speaker's voice was somewhat conversational & powerful. Articulation & pronunciation were clear most of the time, and there was little verbal clutter. The speaker varied rate, pitch OR volume to enhance the speech. Pauses were attempted.	Fair The speaker could be heard most of the time; however, the speaker's attempt at being conversational, pleasant & powerful was inconsistent. Needs Improvement Audience had difficulty hearing and/or understanding much of the speech due to low volume or mumbling. There was too much verbal clutter and little, if any, variety in rate, pitch or volume.
Eye Contact 10 %	Excellent Eye contact was used during the introduction & conclusion, and the speaker looked at all of the audience more than 80% of the time. Fair The speaker attempted to use eye contact more than 25% of the time.	Needs Improvement The speaker seldom or never looked at the audience.
Visual Aid 10 %	Excellent Student had all necessary materials and used them to demonstrate effectively and to enhance the speech.	Good The speaker had all materials, but made minor errors when using them.	Fair The speaker had most of the materials, but was not always effective in using them in the demonstration.	Needs Improvement Student was missing materials or was so disorganized that the demonstration was hard to follow.
Prep & Polish 10 %	Excellent The demonstration was rehearsed and flawless. Obvious time went into planning & preparing.	Good The demonstration was rehearsed, but still contained errors. Some time went into planning & preparing.	Fair The demonstration was somewhat rehearsed, but it should have been smoother and better planned.	Needs Improvement The student spent little time planning & rehearsing the demonstration. It was chaotic and hard to follow.
