Mock Trial Rubric--Judge/Baliff

This rubric will evaluate the participation of a student based on preparedness, behavior, attitude, attendance, and social interaction while preparing for a mock trial.

	Excellent 20 pts	Above Average 17 pts	Average 15 pts	Poor 12 pts
Active Involvement	Excellent Student is constantly engaged in trial activity. Student does not need reminders to stay on task.	Above Average Student is often engaged in trial activities.	Average Student is often engaged in trial activity. Student needs a reminder to get back on task.	Poor Student is not involved with the trial activity. Student needs constant reminders to get back on task.
Knowledge	Excellent Anticipates and follows courtroom procedure. Student demonstrates mastery of character	Above Average Courtroom procedure is upheld.	Average Follows standard courtroom procedures. Students demonstrates knowledge of character.	Poor Student does not follow standard courtroom procedures Student is unsure of role expected in trial process.
Performance	Excellent Student talks clearly, loud enough for all to hear. Student has practiced for their part	Above Average Student was loud enough most of the time.	Average Student mumbled at times; spoke quietly some of the time.	Poor Student was difficult to hear. Student did not practice.
Attitude	Excellent Student is positive about the activities being learned in class and sets the example for students around him/her.	Above Average Student is positive about the activities being done in class.	Average Student is neutral about the activities. Student spreads mixed feelings around the class, both positive and negative.	Poor Student has a negative attitude. Student makes the experience bad for others around him/her.
Work Product	Excellent Student clearly understands and performs role.	Above Average Student needs prompting to complete trial tasks.	Average Student is unsure as to their role in the trial process.	Poor Student has clearly not rehearsed or engaged in learning about their role.
