Understands concept Recognizes the parts of a whole and names the parts in relation to the whole.	Poor The student makes no conection to the parts in an object and its' relationship to the whole. The student is unable to name any fractional part of a whole.	Fair The student makes some connection to the parts in an object and its' relationship to the whole. The student is able to name the fraction 1/2.	Good The student understands the parts in an object are related to the whole object. The student is able to name fractions including 1/2, 1/4, 1/3, and apply the knowledge to other fractions.
Understands equal parts Students will move shapes that have equal and unequal fractions into the correct categories	Poor The student does not consistently recognize shapes with equal fractions.	Fair The student sometimes recognizes shapes with equal fractions	Good The student usually recognizes shapes with equal fractions.
Idenify and write fractions The student can recognize and write fractions	Poor The student is unable to idenify and write fractions correctly.	Fair The student is able to identify and write 3 out of 5 fractions correctly.	Good The student is able to identify and write 5 out of 5 fractions correctly.
