Experiencing Orients book correctly; turns pages from the front of the book to the back; recognizes familiar books by their covers. Ex. Hand teacher book and says "Let's read Corduroy!"	Progressing Knows some features of a book (title, author, illustrator) connects specific books to authors. Ex. Says "I want to read this Dr. Seuss book today."	Achieving Uses various types of books for their intended purposes. Ex. Selects books about insects to identify the butterfly seen on the playground.
Objective 6 Uses print concepts	Not Yet Shows understanding that text is meaningful and can be read Ex. Points to the words on the sign by the fish bowl and sasy, "Just one pinch."	Experiencing Indicates where to start reading and the direction to follow. Ex.
