Handwriting Progress
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts
Copying Speed	Poor Copies at a rate 25% or more below the average for student's grade level	Fair Copies at a rate no more than 10% below the average for the student's grade level.	Good Copies at a rate equal to or more than the average speed for student's grade level.
Legibility	Poor More than 4/10 words in a 100 word sample contain letters that are poorly formed: too large or small for the space, made incorrectly, or unreadable	Fair No more than 2/10 words in a 100 word sample contain letters that are poorly formed.	Good At least 9/10 words in a 100 word sample consist of letters that are legible: formed correctly, evenly sized and located on lines and/or within designated spaces correctly.
Grasp	Poor Child cannot hold writing tool correctly even with cues, assistance, and positioning devices for 50% of the time when copying a 100 word sample.	Fair With cues and a positioning device when needed, child can hold a writing tool for more than 50% of the time up to 75% of the time when copying a 100 word sample.	Good Child can hold a writing tool correctly for 90% of the time to copy a 100 word sample.
