Reading Response Written Letter
	Poor 1 pts	Fair 2 pts	Good 3 pts
Use of details from the reading	Poor Uses few or no details.	Fair Uses some details that show some reading and understanding was done.	Good Uses many details that prove a book was read and understood.
Use of indepedent thought	Poor No proof of any independent thought.	Fair Some proof that student is thinking about the reading.	Good Clearly proves that student is thinking about the reading.
Punctuation/Indention	Poor Rarely has correct punctuation. Forgets to indent paragraphs.	Fair Usually has correct punctuation and at least indents the first paragraph.	Good Always (or almost always) has correct punctuation and remembers to indent new paragraphs.
Parts of a Letter	Poor Only includes 1-2 parts of the friendly letter and neglects to include much or all of the proper placement and/or punctuation.	Fair Includes 3 or more parts of a friendly letter and attempts to use some proper placement and punctuation.	Good Includes all 5 parts of a friendly letter with proper placement and punctuation.
Personal Best, Spelling, Neatness	Poor Little proof that care has been given to the writing. Many of the words used are spelled incorrectly.	Fair Some proof that care has been given to the writing.
