Student shows no apparent knowledge of hand position
Emerging

Student makes attempt at times to have proper hand positions but most of the time is incorrect. Strings are often muted.
Meets Standard

Student shows knowledge of hand positions but sometimes misses proper placement. Sometimes strings are muted.
Exceeds Expectations

Student always keeps hands in proper places. No extra strings are muted on accident. The thumb is in the back and finger tips are used to mute strings.
Strum Consistency

Needs More Effort

Student must stop after almost every note or chord. The wrist is too tight to allow for proper strumming technique.

Student shows that they are aware of a rhythm but cannot continue to maintain it. The wrist is beginning to loosen up.
Meets Standard

Student keeps wrist loose consistently but has a few stops.

Student plays without stopping. The wrist is loose and allows for up strumming.

Student sits back in chair when playing and does not hold the ukulele at the correct angle.

Student plays with tall posture and holds the ukulele at the correct angle most of the time.

Student plays with tall posture, feet down, and holds the ukulele at the correct angle all of the time.
