Character has been thoroughly portrayed. The actor uses voice and movement to match the character's personality, but could do more. Actor remains in character for most of the performance with minor lapses.
Fair

Limited characterization - breaking of character during scene. Voice and movement may be lacking or inappropriate for the character.
Poor

Character is rarely present. Voice and movement fluctuate or do not represent the character's personality. Character is unclear. Actor breaks character often.
Vocal Clarity & Tone

Excellent

Scene is easy to understand and to hear. All words are clear and loud enough to hear with good vocal variety of volume, pace, diction, and pitch.

Most of the scene is easy to hear and understand but needs work on either projection or vocal variety of volume, pace, diction, and pitch.

Actor struggles to use body language throughout the scene. Character lacks facial expressions, gestures, and stance that are appropriate to the emotion and situation of the play.
Poor

Actor rarely uses body language in the scene. Body may be very stiff and rigid, or may not match the emotion, character, and situation appropriately.
Blocking

Excellent

Specific choices are made as to how and when to move based on the characters needs and style of the scene. Actor cheats out throughout.
Good

Some choices are made as to how and when to move but some unmotivated movement as well. Actor cheats out with minor lapses.
Fair

Movement is choppy and feels unmotivated overall and/or does not relate to the character or the style of the scene at all. Actor may struggle to cheat out and has longer moments of back to audience.
