Pinch Pot Ugly Mugs
Ceramic Pinch Pot Head
The students use the pinch pot method to create an "ugly mug". The finished mug must have a handle and each of the following facial features: eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and hair.

The project is at least 4.5" tall but did not quite reach 5" after firing. The mug is at least 3" wide with a rim. The students has exceeded the minimal requirements and has firm control of the medium.

The project is at least 4" tall and 3" wide, with a rim, after firing. Student shows control of medium.

The project did not reach minimum height and width requirements to establish control over the medium once fired. More work on this area is needed.
Applique

The student successfully attached the following items to the pinch pot "head": ears, eyes, mouth, nose, and hair. Each item has been scored and slipped for maximum attachment after fire. Student has added items beyond the required elements and detail is creatively used

Great care was taking in sculpting the individual parts of the head in order to make it look like an attractive piece of artwork.
THE INTERIOR OF THE MUG IS SMOOTH AND FREE OF BLEMISHES

The interior of the mug is mostly blemish free but those present do not interfere with use.
