Fair

The evidence somewhat supports the analysis. The evidence supports the assertion and gives relevant examples. No explanation or significance is made for the reader.
Poor

The evidence does not clearly support the assertion, examples are not relevant to the support of the assertion. No explanations of significance is made for the reader.
Mechanics

Does the essay have correct punctuation? Did the student use proper word choice? Do sentences flow smoothly?

Excellent

There are no spelling or punctuation errors present in paper. The paper is typed, double spaced, and formatted properly.
Good

There are few (three or less) errors in spelling, capitalization, or punctuation. The paper is double spaced and follows proper format.
Fair

There are more than three errors in spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. There presentation is legible and the format is somewhat evident.
Poor

There are many errors in spelling, capitalization, and punctuation. The papers difficult to read and lacks proper format.
Ideas

Assertions are presented and supported with thoughtful analysis.

Excellent

The analysis is strongly supported with logical assertions that show the writer's critical thinking and insightful thought.
Good

The analysis is mostly supported with logical assertions that show the writer's critical thinking and insightful thought.
Fair

The analysis is not clearly supported with logical assertions. Writer does not effectively show logical analysis or insightful thought.
Poor

The analysis has no assertion and fails to show critical thinking or knowledge of the subject chosen.
