Materials	Exceeds Expectations Student has all 4 required materials-instrument, pencil, music, any other required materials.	Acceptable Student has 3 of the required materials-instrument, pencil, music, any other required materials.	Fair Student has 2 of the 4 required materials-instrument, pencil, music, any other required materials.	Poor Student has 1 or fewer of the required materials-instrument, pencil, music, any other required materials.
Work Ethic	Exceeds Expectations Student only plays when necessary, student always attempts despite difficulty of the material, student does not disrupt others, student shows evidence of home practice	Acceptable Student plays when necessary, student always attempts to play, student does not disrupt others	Fair Student is sometimes seen with his or her instrument down, student attempts to play sometimes	Poor Student is often seen with his or her instrument down while band is playing, student does not attempt to play, student is disruptive to others
Instrument	Exceeds Expectations Student has had instrument every day of the week and is in good playing condition	Acceptable Student has had instrument every day of the week and is in acceptable playing condition	Fair Student has forgotten his or her instrument 1 time out of the week	Poor Student has forgotten his or her instrument 2 or more times out of the week
Posture	Exceeds Expectations Student displays proper posture by sitting up, sitting on the edge of his or her chair, and holds his or her horn the proper way	Acceptable Student displays proper posture by sitting up and holds his or her horn the proper way	Fair Student sometimes slouches, sometimes does not hold their horn up, sometimes sits on the edge of the chair	Poor Student slouches in chair, does not hold horn up, does not sit on the edge of the chair
