Keyboarding Technique 
This rubric has been created to assess students ability to type using the correct keying method, hand position, eye focus, posture and effort. Lesson 5 in the College Keyboarding & Document Processing text book will be used for testing with a goal of 14 WPM with no more than 3 errors for 1 minute. Student will print out their Portfolio report to be submitted to their instructor. Student is to follow good posture technique.

Keeps eyes on copy 90% of the time. May glance at hands or keyboarding chart 1-3 times during a timed writing. Occasionally hesitates during a timed writing searching for a key.
Average

Keeps eyes on copy 80% of the time. May glance at hands or keyboarding chart 4-8 times during a timed writing. Lots of pausing and hesitating as keys are found. Rhythm is not smooth.
Poor

Struggles to keep eyes on copy most of the time. May glance at hands or keyboarding chart more than 8 times during a timed writing. Has no rhythm.
