This rubric contains the requirements for a student's first virtual reality terrain.

	Poor 5 pts	Fair 10 pts	Good 15 pts	Excellent 20 pts
Terrain	Poor Terrain contains 25% or less of theme elements and design.	Fair Terrain contains 26% -50% of theme elements and design.	Good Terrain contains 51% - 75% of theme elements and design.	Excellent Terrain represents chosen theme in design. All elements contained within terrain are appropriate to the theme.
Layers	Poor Terrain contains 25% or less of the necessary layer requirements.	Fair Terrain contains 26% - 50% of the necessary layer requirements.	Good Terrain contains 51% - 75% of the necessary layer requirements.	Excellent Terrain contains a minimum of 6 different texture layers. All layer textures are visible somewhere in the terrain.
Hills and Valleys	Poor 25% or less of hills and valleys contain textures that are appropriate for the design theme.	Fair 26% - 50% of hills and valleys contain textures that are appropriate for the design theme.	Good 51% - 75% of hills and valleys contain textures that are appropriate for the design theme.	Excellent Terrain contains hills and valleys. All hills and valleys contain textures that are appropriate for the design theme and are aligned correctly.
Static Meshes	Poor 25% or less of the terrain contains static meshes in the appropriate places.	Fair 26% - 50% of the terrain contains static meshes in the appropriate places.	Good 51% - 75% of the terrain contains static meshes in the appropriate places.	Excellent Terrain contains a minimum of 6 static meshes that are placed in the appropriate places.
Connecting Room	Poor Terrain contains connecting room that does not have an entrance way.	Fair Terrain contains connecting room that is textured appropriately. Entrance way does not connect room to terrain.	Good Terrain contains connecting room that is entered via a static mesh entrance way. Entrance way has holes that show spacing.	Excellent Connecting room has appropriate texturing that is aligned. You enter the connecting room via a static mesh that is carved into a hillside.
Skybox	Poor Terrain has a sky without using a skybox. Sky does not contain a static mesh.	Fair Terrain has a sky without using a skybox. Sky contains a static mesh.	Good Terrain uses a skybox for the sky without using a static mesh.	Excellent Terrain uses a skybox for the sky and the skybox contains at least 1 static mesh.
Sound	Poor 25% or less of the sounds are placed in the terrain and are set to the correct volume setting.	Fair 26% - 50% of the sounds are placed in the terrain and are set to the correct volume setting.	Good 51% - 75% of the sounds are placed in the terrain and are set to the correct volume setting.	Excellent Terrain contains a minimum of 6 sounds. The sounds are used appropriately and their volume is set to the correct level for the surrounding terrain area.
Sunlight Actor	Poor Terrain has minimal amount of lighting and color to create the correct mood of the world using the sunlight actor.	Fair Terrain has minimal amount of lighting and color to create the correct mood of the world using the sunlight actor.	Good Terrain has the right amount of lighting and color to create the correct mood of the world without using the sunlight actor.	Excellent Terrain has the right amount of lighting and color to create the correct mood of the world using the sunlight actor.
