What is Value? What is Line? Practice and apply five methods of value; Blended, Linear, Hatching, Pointillism, and Scumbling. Practice and apply relationship between light and Shadow. What is Value?

Value Practice/Range	Not there. Almost no evidence of practice of introduced value scales methods or range of value. Change of value is instant and not at all gradual.	Fair Some value scales methods and range of value are shown or almost complete. Change is value is somewhat choppy or instant.	Good Most of the Values methods and ranges introduced are present and complete. Change of values is mostly gradual.	Excellent! All introduced value methods are practiced: Values are present from Dark to Light. Change in Value is completely blended and gradual.
Light and Shadow	Not there. Very little or no evidence of understanding of relationship between light and shadow.	Fair Some evidence of light and shadow are used.	Good Basic understanding of relationship between a light source and cast shadow is present.	Excellent! A clear understanding of the relationship between light and shadow is present. Core Shadow, mid tones, and a highlight is present.
Craftsmanship/Effort/ Use of Time	Not there. Shows no quality time spent. Quickly made marks (scribbling). Little use of class time for work. Less than 1/4 of exercises completed.	Fair Work shows little time spent. There is a beginning point, but some scribbling is present. Student has used about half of class to work.	Good Work is somewhat finished, for the most part neat and showing some time spent. Little or no scribbling. Student has used Most of the class time for their work.	Excellent! Work is finished to the best of the students ability, is neat, shows Time Spent, no scribbling, without tares or folds. Student has worked continuously, going over and above exercise requirements.
Use of Space	Not there. Space is less than 1/3 used. Student did not complete drawing exercises. Little or no vocabulary is complete.	Fair Pages are about half full with some quality marks. There is plenty of open space for more work. Half of the Drawing Exercises and Vocabulary are complete.	Good Pages are somewhat full. Not many open spaces of blank paper. Marks are careful. Almost all of the Drawing Exercises and Vocabulary are complete.	Excellent! Student has put quality marks on all space on the page. No large gaps of blank space. Student has possibly even used backs of pages. Vocabulary is complete.
