Meets expectations at acceptable level. Focused argument for questions. Stays on topic, brings in alternative views where appropriate. Demonstrates sound reasoning and critical thinking with depth and breadth.

Excellent. Synthesizes info., pulls together new and original ideas. Demonstrates important insights, and sophisticated thought. Outstanding evidence of critical thinking.

Fails to demonstrate application of course content in answer.
