Marching	Exemplary The candidate demonstrates box drill, attention and parade rest at the highest level	Proficient The candidate demonstrates box drill, attention and parade rest at a very good level, with few errors	Developing The candidate demonstrates box drill, attention and parade rest with 5 or more errors	Beginning The candidate demonstrates box drill, attention and parade rest with many errors, or marching out of time
Giving Commands	Exemplary The candidate uses a full "command" voice to give the commands and "corps a-ten hut"and "parade rest" in tempo and with authority	Proficient The candidate uses a moderate "command" voice to give to give the commands "corps a-ten hut"and "parade rest" in tempo and with some authority	Developing The candidate uses a smaller voice to give the commands "corps a-ten hut" and "parade rest"	Beginning The candidate gives commands with a small voice that may be hard to hear from the back of the band

Responsibility	Exemplary The candidate has demonstrated perfect performance and rehearsal attendance as a performer, would do the same as drum major	Proficient The candidate has missed only 1 or 2 performances or rehearsals at NPHS, with advanced notice; is likely to attend all performances as drum major	Developing The candidate has missed 3 to 5 performances or rehearsals at NPHS, needs to prove reliability as drum major	Beginning The candidate has missed more than 5 performances or rehearsals at NPHS, MUST prove reliability to be selected drum major
