Volume	FIRST STEPS Student cannot be heard and makes no attempt to speak up.	YOU'RE ON THE WAY Volume is not always loud enough. Student can sometimes not be heard.	YOU'RE REACHING THE GOAL Student usually speaks loud enough to be heard.	YOU'VE DONE IT! Student speaks loudly enough to be heard easily.
Fluency	FIRST STEPS Student is unable to speak through the dialogue. Student reads the dialogue during the whole presentation.	YOU'RE ON THE WAY Student speaks nervously with long pauses. Student reads most of the time.	YOU'RE REACHING THE GOAL Student mostly speaks fluently with few hesitations. Student hardly reads.	YOU'VE DONE IT! Student always speaks fluently with few hesitations. Student does not read.
Pronunciation	FIRST STEPS Student is unintelligible. Nothing can be understood.	YOU'RE ON THE WAY Pronunciation is not at all clear and student is difficult to understand.	YOU'RE REACHING THE GOAL Most words are pronounced clearly and the student can be clearly understood.	YOU'VE DONE IT! Pronunciation is clear and distinct all of the time and does not interfere with meaning.
Content	FIRST STEPS Student is unable to use vocabulary and grammar correctly to construct an appropriate dialogue.	YOU'RE ON THE WAY Vocabulary is not used correctly. There are many areas in grammar or sentence structure that interfere with meaning.	YOU'RE REACHING THE GOAL Student mostly uses correct vocabulary with few, if any, errors in grammar or sentence structure. The dialogue is clear and follows a logical sequence.	YOU'VE DONE IT! Student makes no errors in vocabulary usage, grammar, or sentence structure. The dialogue is well-written and practical.
Use of Vocabulary	FIRST STEPS Student does not use the vocabuary learnt in the unit.	YOU'RE ON THE WAY Student uses few words of the vocabulary learnt in the unit.	YOU'RE REACHING THE GOAL Student mostly uses the vocabulary learnt in the unit.	YOU'VE DONE IT! Student uses the vocabulary appropriately.
